While this comes as no shock to those of us who get to enjoy Cocoa Beach year-round, popular online travel site Expedia has given our little slice of surf-and-sand heaven its official stamp of approval. Cocoa Beach was recently named one of the most-extraordinary beaches in the world to visit by the site, including it among an exclusive list of 28 shorelines that are “undeniably magical.”
“With so many heavenly coastlines, it wasn’t easy to narrow down the choices,” wrote Expedia staff writer Chloe Mulliner. “We picked beaches based on their quirky features, breathtakingly divine vistas, and memorable characteristics.” In its search for unique spots of sand and sea, Expedia also considered feedback from a poll of 1,000 travelers about some of the incredible beaches they’ve come across.
Although the competition was stiff, Cocoa Beach prevailed as a top choice thanks to its strong surfing culture and proximity to Kennedy Space Center. As Expedia put it: “Cocoa Beach was a popular choice among travelers surveyed, and it’s no surprise. Not only is this stretch one of Florida’s coveted surf spots, but it’s also one of the best places to watch rockets launch into space from the nearby Kennedy Space Center. Not many beaches can claim that spectacle!”
We are thrilled to see Brevard County’s very own coastline get the recognition it deserves and can’t wait for new travelers young and old to continue to discover our magical beach.
