New Deadline Is July 15 for Requesting County Marketing Support for Local Special Events and Arts/Cultural Activities
July 15 is the new deadline for Space Coast organizations to apply for collaborative marketing support from the Brevard County Tourism Development Office (TDO) for either their special events or their arts or cultural programs. Groups and individuals who qualify are invited to request advertising/marketing or other specialized support that would be provided during the upcoming fiscal year (Oct. 1, 2018, through Sept. 30, 2019).
The tourism office’s goal is to support activities that contribute to the positioning of Brevard County as a major tourist destination and also a cultural center. The primary audience for marketing activities funded by the office would be visitors from outside the county who would stay overnight on the Space Coast to attend your special event or arts/cultural program. Applicants should be prepared to demonstrate how their organization/activity supports increases in area hotel bed nights and/or return visits to the Space Coast.
Special Events Support
Florida’s Space Coast each year hosts a multitude of special events – including the Space Coast Birding Festival, the Cocoa Beach Half Marathon, the Christmas Eve “Surfing Santas” fundraiser, and assorted beach festivals, boat races and air shows – that have proven tourism impact. The tourism office also funds other smaller special events and cultural activities that are tourism-related.
The types of special events considered for support by the TDO are primarily those featuring ties to heritage, nature, sports, or music.
Cultural Marketing Program Support
Marketing support for nonprofit arts and cultural organizations is provided through the Cultural Marketing Program (CMP), an initiative under the partnership of the Brevard Cultural Alliance and the TDO. The focus of the CMP is to promote Brevard County as a cultural destination (attracting visitors and encouraging return visits) and enhance the impact of the cultural sector for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.
Activities considered for CMP support may range from a single event to a season of events or an ongoing, year-round arts or cultural program.
The county’s Tourist Development Council toward the end of this summer will select special events and arts/cultural activities for TDO support during fiscal 2018-19. Applicants should follow the guidelines and fill out the applications provided in the links below.
